Florence, Italy (and Rome)

I finished traversing Florence today and then took a train  (the long way) to Rome.

As luck would have it, the first Sunday of every month is free entrance to all of the museums in Florence.  So I took advantage and saw Michelangelo’s statue of David. I know I was only there for a short time, but I didn’t leave Florence feeling like I had missed somehting important!  That’s awesome.

Rome on the other hand…

I only get 1/2 a day here and it will not be enough.  I didn’t think I would care about Rome very much -but in the short time that I’ve been here already, I love it!

The one thing that I had to do was go to the Fontanna de Trevini, preferrably at night.  So, after dinner tonight at Mamma Angelos & really good gellato – I spontaneously decided to walk to the fountain.

It was best decision. I made it there quickly and was teary eyed at the beauty.  Definitely a hightlight of the trip so far.  I tossed in a coin and started back.  I planned to take Rome very lightly – and will have to.  I’m pretty sure I have a shin splint from the hard walking this week.  Tomorrow is mostly a day of travel, so I’ll keep off my foot as much as I can.  Le sigh.

We don’t need no stinking shin splints!
Now you have reason to return to Rome – and I’ve no doubt that you will.

I feel like I’m adventuring with you with each post. I’m excited to see more pictures of Rome and hear more about it when you return. I’ve always been fascinated with its history.
