Florence, Italy

I finally made it to Florence around 3pm and hit the ground running. I have less than 24 hours in the city and want to make sure I see what I can.  Alas, it’a 8:20pm and I’m exhausted. My legs ache from walking through the crowds and down the cobblestoned sidestreets.

Firenze/Florence, is absolutely stunning at sunset. The light catches the buildings, canal and hillside in spectacular ways. I could not capture a picture that even did it justice.  Luckily for me, the city comes to life at night and is full of people hustling and bustling through the golden lit avenues. It is very beautiful. The churches are not only stunning but larger than life.

My local dinner plans fell through, so instead I had delicious zucchini risotto in Spirito plaza.  We made plans to attend a free concert in the St. Lorenzo Basillica.  But those plans have also fallen through.  I was actually quite grateful to be able to rest. I think tomorrow will be a very full day.

I have yet to fully decide what tomorrow will hold. But I know that it will end in Rome.

I’m really glad that you hit the ground running and saw as much as you did. The Uffizi for free is a nice bonus for tomorrow. You’d be wise to use Rome as primarily an opportunity to rest. It’s so much fun living vicariously through you – I like it!
