There are a million pictures I could have chosen for this post. Venice is beautiful. Today was a foggy day on the Island, and I enjoyed seeing the people hustle and bustle on their boats and water ferrys all day.
Because of my long night of travel (and very little sleep) preceding my first day in Venice – I spent much of the time on a water ferry, touring the canals and circling the Island.
When I did finally jaunt through one of the districts, I found that Venice is even more beautiful by foot. It is reminiscent of Old Jerusalem and feels like a maze of quaint tunnels.
My first casualty of travel was my beloved wrist watch. I lost it in Berlin – so replaced it here.
Tomorrow I plan to take the city by foot. There are too many things to photograph. I don’t know where to start.
I am also very excited about my hotel. I have a small room on the Island of Lido, off shore from the main island of Venice. I was so pleased to find that I booked a room all to myself. A welcome change after long nights with roommates. I think this is my last chance to bunk alone for the remainder of my trip – so I plan to enjoy the solitude.
I’m full from dinner and ready to relax for the evening – perhaps I’ll read a book, or process photos. Whatever I do – I plan to enjoy it.

My jealousy is exceeded only by my excitement for you. Venice was one of our very favorite stops, and I am so excited that you get to experience it. Arrivederci! Ti amo.
