Hamburg, Germany

I hopped on a bus early this morning to embark on my journey to Hamburg, Germany where the Christmas Markets are starting. (as pictured above- from one of the booths)

I was tickled pink to learn that I got to take a Ferry from Denmark to Germany. I couldn’t stop smiling.  The train drives directly onto the Ferry, and we leave the train and walk up some stairs to enjoy that part of the trip from the Barge. I treated myself to a delicious buffet as we made the crossing.

After a few hours on the train ( and Ferry), I made it to Hamburg.  I really love it here.

So far my list of Places I Could Live is as follows:

  • Malmo, Sweden
  • Hamburg, Germany

I’m 2/2.

I enjoy being able to hide in the crowd.  People don’t assume I’m an American until I talk (which I avoid whenever possible).  My roommate even said I don’t have a California accent!  I count that as a win.

Tonight I tried Gutwein for the first time.  Now, that’s an acquired taste I’m not likely to acquire anytime soon. But I followed it up with the best meal I’ve had yet.  It doesn’t look quite that pretty – but it was incredibly delicious.

About acquired tastes ….I remember when I was in Japan there were a few dishes I didn’t care for the first time I ate them, however later they became my favorites. Time will tell :)
